The role of the Medical and Scientific Advisory Committee

The Foundation has established a Medical and Scientific Advisory Committee to assist the Board in fulfilling the aims of the Foundation. Members of the Medical and Scientific Advisory Committee are medical and scientific experts with practice and research experience in Marfan syndrome and related diseases. The Committee will assist the Board in assessing proposals for research funding and in establishing an online portfolio of clinical and research reference material that might be of benefit to Australian Marfan patients.

Lesley is Head of the Marfan Research Group at Children's Hospital Westmead NSW. Lesley has been a leader in the field of Human Clinical Genetics especially as it relates to children. She has been an international leader in research into Marfan syndrome and related diseases.

Dr Homayoun Jalali

Dr Homayoun Jalali

FRACS

Homayoun originally from Iran did his surgical training in Belgium in both paediatric and adult surgery. He moved to Australia during the late 1990s. He has been a leader in the development of new cardiac surgical skills, especially as they related to surgical management of Marfan syndrome.

Richmond Jeremy, a previous President of the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand has been in the vanguard of research, diagnosis and management of Marfan syndrome in Australia.

Dr Dominica Zentner

Dr Dominica Zentner

MB BS FRACP FCANZ

Dominica has broad interests in cardiology and genetic medicine. She has particular interests in diseases of the aorta. In the genetic Clinic at Royal Melbourne she is involved in diagnosis and management of Marfan syndrome and other cardiac genetic problems.
